Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026
Readnite is a focused reading app for PDF and EPUB files. We believe your reading habits are personal, and we treat your data with respect. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and what control you have.
1. Information We Collect
- Account information: Your email address, used for authentication via Supabase.
- Reading data: Documents you upload, reading progress, bookmarks, annotations, and highlights.
- Files: PDF and EPUB files stored in cloud storage (Cloudflare R2) when using premium sync.
- Subscription information: Managed by RevenueCat. We do not store your payment card details.
- Crash reports: If the app crashes, a technical report (device model, operating system version, and the error details) is sent to Sentry so we can find and fix the problem. Crash reports never include your documents, annotations, or reading content.
- Usage analytics: We collect a small set of pseudonymous events (such as "app opened" or "subscription screen viewed") via PostHog, hosted in the European Union, to understand how the app is used and improve it. Analytics are tied to a random account identifier — never to your name or email — and never include your documents, annotations, or what you read.
Readnite contains no advertising and no third-party ad networks — on any plan. We never track your reading behavior for marketing purposes.
2. How We Use Your Data
- Provide reading sync across your devices.
- Store your uploaded files for cloud access.
- Process subscription payments via RevenueCat.
We never sell, share, or monetize your reading data. Your library is yours alone.
3. Data Storage & Security
- Authentication: Supabase (hosted in the US).
- File storage: Cloudflare R2 (globally distributed).
- Payments: RevenueCat (PCI-compliant).
- Crash reporting: Sentry.
- Usage analytics: PostHog (hosted in the European Union).
All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS. Files are stored per-user with access controls ensuring only you can access your content.
4. Third-Party Services
Readnite relies on the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
- Supabase — authentication and database.
- Cloudflare R2 — file storage.
- RevenueCat — subscription management.
- Project Gutenberg — public domain book catalog. Readnite queries the Gutenberg API to display and download free books within the Discover section. These books are provided by Project Gutenberg, not owned or curated by Readnite. No personal data is sent to Gutenberg when you browse or download books.
- Sentry — crash reporting, so we can find and fix errors.
- PostHog — pseudonymous product analytics, hosted in the European Union.
We encourage you to review their respective privacy policies for details on how they handle data.
5. Data Retention & Deletion
Your data is retained as long as your account is active. Upon account deletion, all data — including files, reading progress, and annotations — is permanently removed within 30 days.
Free-tier users keep all reading data on-device only. Nothing is stored on Readnite's servers unless you subscribe to premium cloud sync.
Crash reports and analytics events are retained for a limited period by Sentry and PostHog respectively, then automatically deleted. You can request early deletion of this data at any time via support@readnite.com.
6. Your Rights
- Access: View all data associated with your account.
- Export: Download your reading data and annotations.
- Delete: Request complete account and data deletion.
For any data requests, contact support@readnite.com.
